Property OnlineIn the US technology is massively transforming how Americans buy and sell homes and the South African property market is following similar trends.

According to a study done by the National Association of Realtors in the US about 77% of buyers us the internet to search for houses for sale.

In South Africa a similar trend can be seen with websites such as PropertyGenie and PrivateProperty experiencing massive growth rates. PropertyGenie is basically a central marketplace which various Estate Agents use to market their properties, while PrivateProperty offers sellers an opportunity to market and sell their properties privately thereby saving on Estate Agent commissions.

Many SA Property websites are investing a lot of time and money in building information technology, and because of these efforts, more consumers than ever are using the internet in their home search.

Research also shows that the typical buyer walks through nine properties, searches eight weeks to buy a home and moved 20km from their previous residence in their search.
